Investment Banking Summer Analyst
General Interview Information
Interview Details
He first asked me to walk through my CV and highlight an experience that best showed analytical ability. Then he moved into a few technicals — things like walking through a DCF, explaining how the three statements link together, and what happens if depreciation increases by £10. There was also a short case about a conglomerate with four business segments, and I had to say which one I’d consider selling and why. Toward the end, he asked a market-based question on a recent M&A deal and how I’d value a company facing headwinds.
Overall, it was professional and balanced not overly technical, but you definitely needed to know your basics and think logically. Communication from HR was clear, and the whole process moved quite fast, all within about three weeks.
