Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I applied through my university recruiting site. Then about a month later, during Winter Break, I was given a call on the day before Christmas at 9am PST. The person was calling from Spain, which was interesting for a Latin America position, but nevertheless, he called and left a message since I didn't answer the call. Then he called again, ten minutes after, and I answered and the conversation/interview began full fledged in Spanish. I was taken aback and felt unprepared but I think that was the point. I totally messed up and felt unprepared and he realized it. He asked about financial news, anything I new about BAML and their role in Latam, etc. (things I should have been looking at) and he also asked me to pitch a stock. I was a bit turned off but he was a really nice guy. At the end, he told me that I was an intelligent girl and basically needed to prepare for the interview (it was my first banking interview ever) and how to be ready with adequate Spanish vocabulary. After that, I did not hear from anyone for about two months. At this point, it is February and I was in Brazil studying abroad. I received an email from them about wanting to have more conversations. This time they were more scheduled about the interviews. My first one was with an Argentinian Associate living in NYC. He asked about why BAML, why LatAm, and only technicals were: how to value a company and how to get FCF and NPV. Then I was suppose to speak with a female analyst but she then told me she was too busy at the time so someone else would reach out. No one ever reached out so I figured it was over. Then about two weeks later, I am invited for the interview on site. I explained my study abroad situation and they said they could only pay up to $600 of my flight and since it was last minute, no way was that possible. Additionally, they didn't have virtual interviews available... They didn't seem to budge so I removed myself from the process...
