Sophomore Investment Banking Summer Analyst

BAML was very accommodating when it came to the recruiting process. I was away for the whole month of January and was scheduled for a super day on Jan 14th, so when I emailed them with my dilemma they said they could not accommodate me at the time and to reach out once I returned to the US to see if they could still consider me. At this point, I figured I had no shot since the positions were probably filled, but once I returned they scheduled me for an interview a week later. As it turned out, I later found out that that interview date was actually meant to fill spots from people who had declined offers following the Jan 14th super day. After my super day, I was told I would receive a response the next day, and then received a call that day telling me they were still finalizing and would know for sure the next week. I waited and the next week still received no call. At this point, I had a deadline approaching for Deutsche Bank that I wasn't willing to decline, so I emailed my interviewers and HR at BAML to let them know. Immediately, I received a response from one of my interviewers saying how he thought I did great during my interview and was surprised that I hadn't yet received an offer. It was in most part because of him that I ultimately got an offer and decided to accept BAML. He called me that same day and told me how he thought I was the best candidate that day, but because practically no one declined the offers from Jan 14th, they had no spots left for the summer internship. However, the interviewer was able to pull some strings and I had an offer by the next day. After seeing how much this interviewer went through to get me the offer, I gladly accepted.
