Interview Details
I had a superday in NY at 1 Bryant Park. It consisted of 4 30-minute interviews back to back. Two were 2-on-1 and the others were 1-on-1. Most people were MDs and Senior VPs. My phone interviewer (the better one) also happened to be one of the interviewers, coincidentally. Interviews were all fit questions, so just telling the same stories over and over to 4 people.
At the end of the superday interviews, they asked us to take a written test. Proofread the errors in a memo and write a paper about "Why Public Finance". Then gathered us in a conference room and told us to wait. About 45 mins later, they came back and asked half of the candidates (out of my group of 10) to leave, saying "it wasn't a reflection of how well they did. Just that they wanted to ask more questions to those remaining". I was one of the remaining people. Turns out that staying after did reflect how well people did. The people who stayed behind were the "finalists" and got to have another short interview with the head of the group. Pretty much was a casual talk and he was trying to "sell" the group to me. It was pretty obvious at that point what was going on.
