Public Finance Investment Banking Analyst

I applied online, but I'm pretty sure I got the interview via networking. I connected with an alum from my school who is an MD at Barclays who really pushed for me to get the interview. First phone interview with a director (never spoke with HR), then I had an in-person interview with another director. Both were basic fit questions, nothing technical. I thought both went quite well, the interviewer and I had a great conversation. Next round was with the MD. I thought it went OK, but definitely was not my best interview because I was nervous. Final round was a skills test which involved an Excel test (incredibly easy) and a marketing writing test (also very easy). I finished that up in about an hour, chatted with the director who administered the test, and then found about about a week and a half later that I was passed up for the job. All interviews were fine, but Barclays was TERRIBLE about following up; I was constantly emailing and calling them trying to set up the next interview. Even after they told me I had made it to the next round I wouldn't hear from them for weeks. It was ridiculous.
