Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Currently attend law school. Finished my first year. Noticed Barclays was hiring on-campus for IBD Summer Associate roles so I sent in a resume. 2-3 months later, I got an invite for a phone interview. 1-1 phone interview with an associate who recently joined from law school. Then 1-1 phone interview with Vice President who also worked as a lawyer. 2-3 days later I was invited to Super Day. They were considering 7 candidates and extended 3 offers. I got the impression that this was going to be much more difficult than a traditional undergrad OCI interview - everyone was thoroughly qualified pedigree-wise (couple of Harvard Law students etc) and had confident personalities. Super Day consisted of 3 1-1 interviews with directors in different groups. Very basic questions: Why IBD? Why in law school and not MBA if you're interested in IBD? What have you done quantitative? When have you worked in teams? Why Barclays? What else do you know about Barclays? When do you think the fed will raise rates and why? How would you value the Starbucks across the street from this office? That's all of it. Literally the same 5-7 questions for each Director over and over. The directors are usually from Harvard. If you're not from Harvard Law, they will make sure you're aware of it.
