Sales and Trading Summer Analyst

I went to an on-campus event held by Barclays in October for a company presentation and networking reception. I spoke with a couple of NYU grads within the S&T arena and got their cards. I kept in contact with a few of these analysts regarding resume reviews and CV's. All of them were extremely helpful and went out of their way to speak with me. Two of them recommended me for S&T on-the-job, a program that I was unable to secure a spot it. December rolled around and I received an email that I was selected for a first round interview after HR resume screening. Our HR rep was extremely helpful in answering questions regarding the firm and provided us with mentors within S&T to help prepare us for the interviews. I recommend taking speaking with your mentor as much as possible to learn about the firm and interview questions. My mentor met with me on several occasions and gave me a tour of the trading floor. A few days later I received an email from our HR rep inviting those selected to a pre-interview reception held in their NY offices. The reception included all those from NYU selected for first round interviews. Here we were able to speak with a couple of the S&T analysts and a select number of MDs. I got the feeling that this was part of the interview process even though they said it wasn't, so be as personable as possible. Interviews were held the following week at our career center. My interviewer was extremely nice and did not ask any difficult questions. Overall, he wanted to gauge my interest in Barclays, so have a personal answer for "Why Barclays?". Most of the questions were behavioral/fit, so make sure you review those kinds of questions in the vault guide.
