Interview Details
After about 2 or 3 weeks I got the invitation for the AC.
The AC was quite well organized and the HR explained to us where the interviews would be held and when we would get the results.
First they showed us a video, with a short presentation of a company, that would be the subject of the group assignment. Then we had 40-45 minutes to read background info about the company and prepare, in groups of 4, a presentation. The task was to decide whether the company should grow externally and if we said yes, we had to choose among 4 targets and propose the structure of the deal (% Equity and % Debt).
We had 15 minutes to present it to the interviewers and then other 15 minutes for Q&A. The questions were mainly about the strategic part, since we didn't deal with a lot of numbers, so nothing extremely technical, just some multiples, D/E ratios. The more or less tricky part was to figure out that the companies were not all from the UK, so we also had to use exchange rates to get to correct results.
Afterwards, we each had three one-on-one interviews. Each interview was around 30 min, and basically they had to spend half of the time asking very general questions proposed by HR, and then the rest with more specific questions about us and our experience. I personally didn't get any technical question in the interviews (I studied Finance but didn't have any prior experience in IB), but a lot of questions regarding the current situation on the market and how it would affect investment banks in general and Barclays in particular.
The interviewers were quite nice, didn't try to make things more difficult or stressful. So, on the whole, a very positive experience. I got a call the next day from the HR, to tell me I got the offer and to give me feedback.
