Interview
Met with the head of recruitment. Thereafter I met with two of the managing directors, as well as a vice president of the firm. It was entry level so they mostly asked questions on my studies and internships.
Interview Questions
One difficult question asked was on M&A deal flow in 2017 and how it compared to the previous years. Expect to be asked about valuation methodologies. Expect to be asked what happens to the income statement when one company acquires another. I had carried out a relevant thesis during my undergraduate and I was asked a lot of technical questions on that. I would suggest just having anything that is mentioned on your resume to know inside and out. Other than that there was not a whole lot of difficult questions

Phone Interview
Interview
I was put in contact with an Associate, who at the time was in charge of recruiting. Now they have a more formal recruiting process, with an HR lady that is probably primarily in charge now. I had a first round phone interview with said associate that was mainly behavioral questions (why IB, why Berkery Noyes). It was pretty informal and there were no curveballs or difficult questions. If I remember correctly I was actually asking a lot of questions about a deal I thought was interesting where they represented a for-profit college a few years back. Second round interview was also via phone, however if you go to school around NYC they prefer for it to be in person. I go to a big ten, midwest school so mine was over the phone. It was mostly technical questions, and there were two associates on the other line. The technical questions were nothing too bad, mostly very basic stuff like what is EBITDA, what are the three main valuation methods, and I think they asked me some basic accounting questions too. If you've studied the vault/M&I guide you'll be fine. After that interview, I got a call maybe two weeks later with an offer.
Interview Questions
Again, there was nothing that was not a layup. Perhaps the only thing that threw me off was in the second round interview, which they told me before hand would be a technical interview, they started off by asking me a few behavioral questions, like why Berkery Noyes, again. I had not thought about my answer to that question in a while so I just had to make something up on the spot. My answer wasn't great, but then again there is no great answer to that question in my opinion. I'll say it again, if you have your technicals down, you'll hit a home run.

Name the three financial statements; walk me through $10 depreciation; what are the three main valuation methods; describe to me what a DCF is; what is WACC, how do you find it; asked a few questions about different multiples used in public comps and precedent transactions.

Sent resume through OCR. Was contacted to schedule interview in office several weeks later, no phone screen. Superday style interview process with 3-4 one on one interviews.

Very fit based interview. Technicals primarily only covered at a high level (DCF, WACC, accounting). Most of discussion centered around resume / previous accomplishments, and reasons for interest in the firm.

Initially recruited on campus through a specialized club at Fordham University. Interview process was 4 interviews with 3 analysts and 1 managing director. My advice would be understand what an investment bank does and exactly why you want to enter into this industry and why this firm. Heavy on fit questions.

Interview
Initially got in touch with the firm through an on campus recruiting process. A few emails beforehand to set up an interview and offer a bit of what the job would be and what to expect. 4 interviews back to back within a 2 hour span. Be ready to discuss a broad array of fit questions and know exactly what is on your resume. Be able to explain each experience, why you participated and what you did. Office is small; a lot of young workers. Culture seems laid back and flat.
Interview Questions
Why sell side M&A? (This is there main focus)

Response: I basically discuss that I want to get involved in M&A because its extremely quantitative and high pressure; an environment I can see myself thriving in. I related that back to prior work experience. I also discussed my time in wealth management and that I liked working on a team as an advisor. Overall, basically I am trying to get my feet wet with IB since I have no prior experience in the field. I think this would be a great place to start.
