Interview Details

What did the interview consist of?
Phone Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I was put in contact with an Associate, who at the time was in charge of recruiting. Now they have a more formal recruiting process, with an HR lady that is probably primarily in charge now. I had a first round phone interview with said associate that was mainly behavioral questions (why IB, why Berkery Noyes). It was pretty informal and there were no curveballs or difficult questions. If I remember correctly I was actually asking a lot of questions about a deal I thought was interesting where they represented a for-profit college a few years back. Second round interview was also via phone, however if you go to school around NYC they prefer for it to be in person. I go to a big ten, midwest school so mine was over the phone. It was mostly technical questions, and there were two associates on the other line. The technical questions were nothing too bad, mostly very basic stuff like what is EBITDA, what are the three main valuation methods, and I think they asked me some basic accounting questions too. If you've studied the vault/M&I guide you'll be fine. After that interview, I got a call maybe two weeks later with an offer.
