Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Getting an intern offer at BCG (and other consulting firms) in Seoul is EXTREMELY relationships-driven i.e., without knowing someone on the inside, it will be very difficult to pull it off. Luckily I knew an alum who worked there already so I secured an interview via referral. BCG in Seoul has what are called Research Assistant (RA) positions, which basically means they will stick you with a project team with no chance of FT offer in the end. Because they just want the menial labor from interns, what ends up happening is that the selection process is highly ambiguous and tends towards hiring children of clients. In my case, I was called in for just one 20-minute one-on-one interview with softball questions (Why did you apply for this position? What's your background?) and one unstructured case interview at the end (If you were considering opening a Chinese restaurant in Seoul, what would be the most important factors to consider e.g., market size, growth, etc.?).
