Interview
The interview process consisted of multiple rounds, beginning with a phone screen. About 2 weeks after I submitted the application through a university career site, I received an email about a first round phone screen. The first round phone screen was with an Associate on the team, who asked questions mostly about fit and some slight technicals related to valuation and DCF. The next phone screen was with an Analyst on the team, who asked similar valuation questions, and mostly behavioral. The final round interviews were 3 back-to-back interviews with members of the team in the office, ranging from Analyst to Principal. Throughout the process, everyone was extremely supportive and helpful, and were very clear about expectations throughout the process. The bankers were pleasant to talk to and genuinely interested in getting to know candidates. Any prospective candidates should definitely familiarize themselves with the bank's website, as well as their industry focuses and recent deals - this will show good interest in the firm and will help you stand out in interviews. Other than that, the biggest things are a willingness to learn and be a helpful and supportive member of the team.
Interview Questions
The questions asked were mostly with regards to valuation - naming the major valuation methods, their pros and cons, and ranking them in terms of highest-to-lowest valuation. They were looking for you to more or less indicate that LBOs typically yield the lowest valuation, with comps / precedents being near the top, and DCF typically somewhere in between, as well as scenarios where a DCF may not be as useful. Knowing the 3 financial statements and how they flow to each other was also important. The final round interview consisted of more conceptual questions, such as "What multiple would you use for a pre-revenue telecommunications company?", in which an answer of a "forward-looking EBITDA multiple" or "a unique multiple such as EV/subscribers" would have been useful. A lot of the interviews were resume-based, and wanted you to explain prior relevant experience, as well as campus involvement, and how that may make you suited for the position. Also be able to explain how you can handle a 20-25 hour/week internship during the school year - this can be demonstrated through past experiences and stories related to accountability and time management.

Interview Questions
There were standard why banking questions along basic technicals. There was also a brain teaser at the end. Questions included: 1. Can you tell me what an investment bank does? 2. What are the types of firms that we work with? 3. Can you walk me through the financial statements? 4. Can you walk me through each of the accounts on the balance sheet? 5. Brain teaser.
Overall it was pretty basic and very easy considering that it is a part time internship and there are not a lot key responsibilities besides the marketing letter that interns are responsible for.
