Interview
Started off with campus recruitment via an outside HR firm. There was then a short phone interview followed by a one on one interview. As I didn't live in London the 1 on 1 interview was done via Skype. After that there was the common psychometric tests (with logic) and then a personality test.
Interview Questions
Can you name an investment idea you have right now? This isn't a hard question, except for the fact that you need to tailor your answer to what Canaccord does. Canaccord in the UK focuses on MM European companies, so your answer should be in that space. Giving them an answer about a large cap company isn't what they want.
How do you think your law degree prepared you for finance? I did law as an undergraduate (it is an undergraduate degree in the UK/Ireland), so they wanted to see if I had a story/reason as to why I was switch career paths. Again, it isn't a hard question, but you need to have your reasoning and selling points there. The follow up questions were definitely pointed, so waffling really isn't an option.

Group Interview
Interview
There were first round interviews on campus followed by a 'super day' at the firms office in Toronto. The firm seemingly only had candidates from two Canadian business schools and a select few others (you can guess the two schools). The first round was quite technical 2-1 interview and the superday consisted of two interviews, one quite technical with junior bankers and then another one that wasn't very technical with an MD. There was a reception after the interviews where you met more people from the firm from extremely junior to extremely senior levels of the firm.
Interview Questions
The firm had quite weird technical's compared to other banks. I can't remember exactly what they were but one included the changes on the three financial statements if the value of a good used in production changed.
They also asked some situation type questions such as 'what would you do if you had a extremely hot date at 8pm and your associate put something on your desk for the morning at 730?'

Interview
After the initial phone interview asking me for my reasons for wanting to do banking, I was invited into the firm for a 2 on 1 interview. It consisted solely of technical questions e.g. why is it better to invest in debt rather than equity. Despite my non-financial background (I am a law student), they went into mass detail, asking about valuation models etc.
Interview Questions
The maths test was really difficult - no calculator and it was very noisy in the office outside so hard to concentrate

Tested on various companies' IPOs, and their competitors. Lots of knowledge of the market is necessary
