Interview

I originally applied for Capital One back in October. I had to do an online test and personality test. After that I was given an online case. After that I didn't hear anything for a few weeks and found out I was denied. I decided to reapply with a different email address in January and was given a zoom interview with a Business Analysis Manager.

Interview Questions

It was a pretty standard case interview from what I've heard. I'm never really practiced case interviews before so I found it to be pretty difficult. One of the hardest questions is probably what is a company that Capital One should partner with.

Interview

I was referred by an existing employee who I knew from undergrad. Post-application submission + internal referral I was contacted by a recruiter for an initial phone screening. After the initial screening I was brought in for a series of interviews with SVPs across the LOB--5 interviews for 30 minutes each. The interviews were all conversational and mostly centered around explaining my prior experience coupled with with why I wanted to work for the LOB. I then heard back from the recruiter that I would receive one more phone interview. The final phone interview was with strictly behavioral questions, "tell me about a time". A week after that I received an offer via recruiter phone call. From start to finish the process took less than 3 weeks. Since then, I know my group has added a case interview to the process based on a fictional cash flow loan case. I would advise you to study up on common credit metrics, credit product types, and real estate terminology, and to have a good base level understanding of how bank's function from a business perspective. Would also emphasize that you should be able to effectively articulate why it is you want the job. The interview process was quick and professional. I accepted the offer which was contingent upon clearing a background check--no drug test. Upon passing the background test I worked with an administrator within the LOB to formalize my start date.

Interview Questions

Given the interviews were mostly conversational, I found the behavioral questions to be the most difficult. Even then they were standard "tell me about a time" questions intent on having you highlight a specific work experience and how your actions/decision made an impact / demonstrate a desirable skill (i.e. teamwork, conflict resolution, time management, etc.). Now there is a case component where you must answer questions about a fictional cash flow loan. My hiring predated this new wrinkle so I do not know the actual questions the case consists of but I would advise that you should read up on credit metrics, credit products, and how banks operate from a business perspective.
