1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I applied for a Capital One operations analyst position through my university's website.

The first step, after being selected of course, was an on campus interview. The interview lasted about a half-hour and was mostly about fit with a few somewhat technical questions asked. After the interview, the other candidates and I were given the opportunity to interact with some younger analysts who made the trip up to my school.

The second part was a day-long interview process in Richmond, Virginia. Capital One paid for our flights, and had us stay in a pretty nice hotel in a swanky suburb or exurb whose name escapes me. Dinner and appetizers were served in the hotel's restaurant, though I missed the dinner part due to a delayed flight.

On the day of the interviews, the other candidates and I were shuttled to Capital One's campus. Along the way, I began to meet some of the candidates for the first time. The vast majority of the candidates, if not all of them, were from large state school; if I remember correctly, every school represented competed in either the Big Ten, SEC, or ACC. We got to hang out with each other in a lobby on campus for a decent stretch of time while waiting between interviews. In total, I did three interviews on the campus, and they were more technically oriented than most other interviews I have had. Aside from the interviews, we also had lunch at their nice cafeteria, and had a tour of the entire campus, which was pretty awesome. Notably, during the tour, an analyst hinted at the compensation being around 60k base.

Finally, after returning to school, I got a rejection notice about ten days later. This was no surprise to me though, as I struggled to make it through the process with a serious illness beginning to onset.

Overall, Capital One seemed like a great place to work, and I would not have minded working there back then if my health had held up.
