I applied both through a general job portal AND directly via email after calling the company directly for an email contact. Sent CV and cover letter, got email reply the next day. HR was kind and helpful, including topics that I should read up on to prepare for the test & interview. Test duration 1 hour, but I had a little more time that that to check. HR marks it on the spot: if you passed it, you will move on to an interview, otherwise I think further review might have been needed, depending on how much you missed in the test. Interview process was pleasant: they gave me more information about the firm and role than they asked me questions.
