Interview
Most people are hired through employee referrals or from university career offices (mainly the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese American University). The hiring process usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks, depending on how badly they need someone. It starts off with an interview with the HR person (she is also the senior partner's assistant), and another interview with the director directly afterwards. Most of the time, if the director likes you, you will be asked to see the senior analyst (3rd year analyst) or associate - this will help the interviewee with figuring out the company's culture, and will help the company in making sure the interviewee fits with said culture. After passing this round, interviewees will be asked to sit for a technical test, which entails building a basic financial model from a given list of assumptions, preparing a small pitch deck and translating text from arabic to english or vice versa. Interviewees will get 15 minutes to read the assumptions and ask any questions that might help them complete the model (additional information is needed to complete the assignment). If they pass, interviewees will be asked to sit for a final interview with one of the partners (usually the senior partner), and will hear back in 1 to 2 weeks.
Interview Questions
* What is currently happening in Turkey?

Usually the question can be on any country in the Middle East or North Africa, to see if you are reading the news and following up on important events. The question can be related to the current oil price for example, or OPEC's last decision. The purpose is to make sure that applicants have sufficient knowledge of what's going on in the world (and the markets).

* Why do you want to work in investment banking?

This question is usually asked to see how motivated you are to work in investment banking, and how well you have thought your decision through.

* If you were given the choice of working here (at CFH) or at McKinsey, which would you choose? Why?

This question is usually asked by the senior partner to assess a person's fit to the company, and to see how the employee will answer.

* How would you value a company?

A question typical of the ones asked by the director, if you have studied valuation, or watched Damodaran's valuation online course you'll be fine. Other questions asked by the director are case questions similar to the ones asked at consulting firms (how many ping pong balls do you need to fill a plane, etc.)
