I interviewed with CS in a later stage of the recruitment process in their real estate IB group. I think they had some people drop out so they needed to backfill a couple slots. I wasn’t thinking of doing IB but I came across the job in my mba recruitment office and it sounded intriguing. I did a crash course on financial modeling over the course of 3 days and while normally that wouldn’t be enough time I had had enough experience with modeling and excel up to that point in my career that my skills were serviceable for an interview.

I didn’t get the job and I think it was because I fumbled through my description of WACC. I knew that concept well but I just kind of froze. The format of the interview was about 15 people were interviewed by probably 5 or 6 people. We would cycle through waiting periods and interviews until we had talked with everyone in the group. The MD spoke quite a bit about culture and then younger people were either feeling out personality or specifically testing you on skills/knowledge. Finally an HR lady wrapped it up.
