Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I go to a non-target and was looking for an internship my junior year. I applied online at CS's website for their IBD HOLT SA position. They called me to schedule 2 30 minute phone interviews which consisted of the first round. Mostly fit questions - some technical things about DCF. Fairly straightforward if you've done you're homework. A few days later they called me to invite me to superday in NYC. They flew me out and put me up in a hotel. There were 2 other students there interviewing with me (1 was from a non-target as well). They put us in separate offices and 3 interviewers rotated between offices. There were 2 associates and 1 VP. The associates were straightforward, fit questions, technical questions, etc. The VP was very difficult and asked a super hard brain teaser and asked lots of market-based questions. The only fit question he asked was "what was your biggest failure?" I found out a week later I didn't get the offer. I'm not sure about CS IBD but if you're interviewing for HOLT, it's more market-based. For example, once I answered a question and the interviewer said "yes, that's how a banker would answer it but what about..." The office was in midtown, seemed like a typical banking office. Tons of paperwork everywhere.
