I cold called and they decided they were interested. I got an MD on the line. But he started asking technical and industry questions right then and there. It was a strange and exciting experience. But they seemed forgiving of me not knowing a lot of things.

After about half an hour of that he decided to schedule a formal phone interview later on. So I had a phone interview with a different person from the firm. That one went smoother.
