Skills Test
Interview
- Phone Screen: Mostly behavioral. They focused on Why D.A. Davidson, Why group, and Why that specific city. Nothing technical here, more about culture fit and your interest in the firm. I also had to do an assessment after this as well, which was very technical (EV and Equity value and Accounting Q's) and a personality test.
- Second Round: Still light on technical. They had me walk through the sell-side M&A process and asked a couple of general market/macro questions just to see how I think about what’s going on in the economy.
- Superday: A few technical, but nothing outside of the usual. If you review the 400 technical guide and are comfortable talking through basic valuation/M&A concepts, you’ll be in good shape. There was also a continued focus on fit and communication since they really care about culture.

Interview
Got in contact with recruiter through a connection at the firm.

Applied online, initial phone interview with recruiter on basic screening questions.

Followed by an online assessment consisting of several parts.
1) "IQ Test"
2) Reading comprehension/communication
3) Intermediate Accounting questions
4) Personality
5) Video-recorded questions
6) Upload a stock pitch/industry research report you've written.

Followed by two 30-minute interview with associates with about half behavioral half technical.

The online assessment is very comprehensive. It is much longer than many other companies I have applied to, but it is great. People are chill, not so uptight. Got great vibes from everyone I've met in the process, and all seems genuinely bought into the role they have. A very small group in NYC from what I've been told, so potential candidates will have a much better chance applying to the Portland OR location.

Began my process early September. Got a rejection about a week after my interviews with the associates which was late September. Very quick interview process, no waiting around.
