First round was call with HR (basic screening, why DA, current experience, etc). Second round was a Zoom with two associates, which was mostly behavior but they asked a couple of questions on the industry group that I was apply for and easy DCF questions. Third round was an in person superday, no technicals at all. Nice people, small group in NYC.
Interview Questions
None of the questions were difficult or unexpected, but the most technical question were easy DCF setup questions.

Interview
Pretty uncommon process for me personally: Was connected with the bank via a school alumni at the beginning of the summertime, who then forwarded my information to HR. After summer of networking, applied and was sent a request to complete a skills assessment (accounting, M&A, valuation, general finance Q's.) After this I was invited to complete a personality test, then an intelligence test.
First formal interview was virtual with a senior banker, asked me a wide array of both technical and behavioral questions. None of the technical questions were beyond my capabilities, I'd say they were typical WSO guide Q's. Behavioral side was the same, good opportunities to showcase my background and get to know the more experienced staff.
Second interview was the super-day with three junior bankers and one senior banker. Format was two 30min interviews with two people for each interview. First interview was really focused on technical Q's but had lots of opportunities to ask questions about the firm and the culture. Second interview was similar to the first, with more focus on behavioral side "why banking, why this group, why our company, tell me about a deal we've done" etc. Both very enjoyable interviews.
Interview Questions
Tell me how debt repayment moves through the three statements
How would X bad thing happening impact a DCF valuation?

Interview
The process was very smooth. First, I had a 30min call with the HR consisting of basic fit questions and a few technicals, such as "Are you currently following any stocks?". The next round consisted of 1:1 interviews with three Associates. The following round was 1:1 with two Associates and a Junior Analyst. Round three consisted 1:1 interviews with two Senior Analyst. Finally, the last round was with the HoD. There was a 50/50 mix of technical and fit questions. The company cares a lot about the balance between culture, character fit, and technical knowledge.

Interview
Standard interview process. Applied online for their Research Associate position, was reached out to by HR via email to set up an introductory call for the following week. Call with HR was mainly behavioral with a few basic technical questions, such as difference between sell-side and buy-side, any stocks that I'm following, experience with researching companies. Round 2 was a 30 min, 1 on 1 with the lead analyst for the group, all behavioral. Was contacted after about a week with an invite to superday. Superday was five interviews, with 3 associates, a senior analyst of the group, and the lead analyst from 2nd round, each 30 min. Superday had a mix of behavioral (background, why ER, why Davidson, tell me about a time, etc.) and technical (tell me about a stock you're following, anything I found interesting in the market, what's a stock you would short, valuation multiples.) For the stock pitch just keep it concise while including catalysts, they're looking for general knowledge. As for the short, they aren't looking for an in-depth answer just wondering if you can provide rationale for why that stock in particular.
Interview Questions
The short caught me a bit off guard, but I luckily quickly researched a stock a couple of days before just in case., What's a stock that you would hold for life?, What's an investment theme that you've been following?

Applied through their website and heard back from HR within the afternoon or next day to setup first interview. First rounds here usually will be with HR on fit with 1 or 2 technical. What are the 3 valuation methods? (go into extra detail about what they are don't just list them off) Then you will talk with associate or analyst for about half and half. Was told fit is a big deal here to the point that it is a fault. Why DA David? Say something like its a big bank with a small company feel and also a small bank that has resources. If you want to be on the tech team New York or Portland is where you want to be. Currently (very early 2022) Salt Lake or Boston for tech is not ideally where you want to be if your just starting out from what a former VP at the company told me.

Overall interview process was pretty standard with an initial phone screen with the recruiter who asked a few tech questions, followed by a 1:1 with an associate, 1:1 with a VP, a skills test, and a group interview.
Interview Questions
Honestly nothing they asked was overly difficult; just follow normal guides and you’ll be fine.
