Rotational Associate

I was contacted by email to interview for the rotational associate program about a month after applying through their website (they ignored my application for junior prop trader, which was my preferred role). The HR associate seemed very nice over email. I had the phone interview about a week later. The interviewer had personally gone through the rotational program. He described it as one in which new hires (typically one or two per year) start in a corporate role before moving toward the investment team, with the goal being placement in an investment role at the end of the program. The interview lasted 22 minutes. He did not seem particularly interested or impressed with me, and he cut things off when I couldn't discuss with expert knowledge a type of investment of which I had never heard before. He said they would contact me within a week; about two weeks later I got a rejection email.
