Investment Banking Analyst

There was two rounds of interviews. First round was on campus where I met an analyst and a managing director. The analyst asked most of the questions while the managing director was busy typing away on his laptop. They asked a lot of standard questions like why banking and why this firm.

I went to their NYC office located in the Blackrock building for second round interviews. The HR reps placed me in the group that had the case interview first. My team of four was handed a somewhat thick packet of information about a tech company that we had to basically value and present our work to an MD and associate. The associate would observe us while we figured out the best way to split up the work and answer all the questions on time. Even though we felt a bit time crunched, we luckily finished in the allotted time the MD gave us. We presented our valuation and answered as best as we could the numerous additional questions that the MD threw at us. After the case interview, all the interviewees retired to a conference room to take a quick lunch break. Then the group of interviewees that had the 1-on-1 interviews this morning went on to their case interviews while I moved on to 1-on-1 interviews. I met about ten bankers with positions ranging from analyst to MDs and they focused more on personality/background questions than quant. Later that night, we had a dinner/networking event at Del Frisco's Steakhouse.
