Investment Banking Summer Analyst

Networked with 3 analysts and was selected for a first round interview 2 weeks after applying over email. The interview was 30 minutes over zoom and consisted of 2 analysts asking me a mix of behavioral and technical questions. The technical questions were very easy, so I imagine they choose mainly based on vibes. My advice would be to be prepared for general business knowledge questions, as they definitely tried to gauge whether you had an actual interest in finance and banking. Also be prepared for follow up questions when you answer behaviorals; they frequently pressed me on my answers and I frankly stumbled a bit since I was not expecting such aggressive follow-ups to behavioral questions. After they concluded asking me questions, I asked them questions for 5 minutes, so just come prepared with insightful things to ask. They seemed like kind people overall and were not too intense, but the process felt like it was largely predetermined by networking.
