Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The Evercore M&A interview process consisted of two initial virtual rounds followed by an in-person Superday. The first rounds were conducted virtually with alumni from my school, featuring a mix of behavioral and technical questions. While the technicals were standard, the interviewers emphasized conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization. After passing the virtual rounds, I was invited to the Superday, which was held in person and consisted of four back-to-back 30-minute interviews. Instead of moving between rooms, I remained in one room while interviewers cycled in. The questions focused heavily on M&A technicals, including accounting, valuation, and deal rationale. While the interviews followed a structured format, interviewers pushed for a deep understanding, often following up to ensure clear and logical explanations. The process was rigorous but fair, and the interviewers were professional and engaging. Candidates should be prepared for follow-up questions that test true conceptual knowledge and should focus on explaining technical concepts concisely. A strong grasp of M&A dynamics and the ability to think critically about deals are essential for success.
