Interview
Reached out to someone with a common background on linkedin, leading to an informal phone interview. Was told to apply and then had a phone interview with the actual hiring manager, which led to an in person interview.
Interview Questions
Most of the technical questions were fairly standard - what is the significance of prepayments in the context of residential mortgages, explain concepts like duration, convexity, interest rate risk etc. Also, I was asked about my understanding of Fannie’s business - how do they make money? However, the question/topic that throw me off the most was when the interviewer mentioned that Fannie also deals with reverse mortgages, and asked what would be some of the potentially unconventional risks that come with that kind of product.

I applied internally within the company. I had a phone interview first, waited for a two weeks, then was invited to two larger group interviews with the group.
Interview Questions
Most of the interview questions revolved around fit and whether I would be able to work well with the team. Some of the questions were, how do you deal with people who either not sending you the right information on purpose or they don't know how to send the right information in the first place? Another questions was, how well do you deal with monotonous processes, because you will have to do them quite a bit. On the technical side, some of the questions were: how would you define cap rates and tell me about what they mean?

I had this interview right after graduating College

The interview was 100% behavioral. It lasted for about and hour. Questions ranged from "describe a situation where you worked in a group" to "why Fannie Mae"

Overall a pretty standard behavioral interview which is how Fannie interviews are in general in my opinion
Interview Questions
"Name a time when a co worker/group member did something dishonest. How did you handle it"

I reported them anonymously to higher management

"what is your greatest weakness?" How has it effected you in the past?"

My greatest weakness is that I can be messy from time to time. I found that it does not effect my quality of work

Interview
Received the hiring information from a alumnus who works at the division I am applying for. Send my resume directly to the recruiter at the firm and after the initial phone screening, got into the final panel interview. Two rounds of panel interviews, met with directors and senior analysts from teams within the Risk Management Division. The interviewers did not prepare enough or read your resumes before the interview actually, they asked challenges questions regarding your past experiences on the resume and be ready to explain every detail you have done in your previous projects. My suggestions are don't spend too much time on specific MBS knowledge preparations, think questions in a risk management way and really know you resume. Some interviewers are happy to see you stuck in a certain questions I feel, definitely be aware of that, defend yourself but in a non-agressive way.

Do you see yourself being a financial guy.
Volatility of the stock price, depend on the composition of your portfolio and the return you are seeking.

I do, good with numbers and take the initiative

I didn't hear back for three weeks but then got a call offering me the position.
