I had two interviews for the NYC office. The first round was entirely behavioral and scoped out my interest in the firm, as well as asked basic questions like TMAY, strengs/weaknesses, etc. Second round was entirely technical and included questions about accounting, three financial statements, valuation, and specific questions about deals and accounts receivable statement flow through as well as deferred revenue statement flow through. Interview
First was a HireVue interview. It was mostly behavioral: questions about my background, why I’m interested in banking, and why this firm specifically. Since it was recorded, it was really about being clear, structured, and genuine without the benefit of back-and-forth conversation.

Next was a live online interview with an analyst and an associate. That round was split about half behavioral and half technical. We went deeper into my experiences and teamwork, then shifted into core technical topics like accounting and valuation. It felt more conversational but definitely more rigorous.

The final stage was a Superday with two 30-minute interviews. One was behavioral with a Managing Director, focused on overall fit and long-term interest. The other was technical and pushed further into finance concepts. Each stage felt progressively more in-depth and evaluative.

Interview Questions
The hardest part of the process was definitely the Superday, especially the interview with the Managing Director. The technical questions were challenging, but they were things you can prepare for. The MD conversation felt different. It was much more personal and direct.

He asked questions that made me pause and really think. At one point he asked why he should believe I would still want this job when it is 2am and something goes wrong on a live deal. He also asked me to describe a time I was truly wrong and what that actually cost me. When I answered, he did not just move on. He kept digging and asked follow up questions to see how honest and self aware I was.
