I had a 30-minute first-round interview with a recruiter who asked about my background, interest in the role, experience, and modeling skills. The recruiter also took time to discuss the job itself, expectations for the role, and location preferences. I know the rest of the interview process was a second round with an associate, then a take home 3 hour modeling test, and then a debrief where you defend your assumptions.

I then had a second-round interview with an associate on the team. The interview felt like I was being hazed. The interviewer yawned throughout the conversation and even got up from his chair while asking questions, which felt distracting. He asked whether I had received a return offer from another firm, and when I said that I had, he questioned why I did not accept it.

The interviewer seemed disinterested and was very rude. They did not appear passionate about their job, and I seriously do not think they are actively hiring, as the position was originally posted five months ago and then reposted a month ago. When I tried to ask questions about the firm, he was dismissive and often gave one-word answers as if he did not care. When I expressed interest and mentioned that I had conducted extensive research on the firm, he told me there was only so much I could learn from the videos and podcasts that the head of the group had done.

At the end of the interview, I brought up an investment the company had made that I found particularly interesting, but he cut me off and said, "Thank you, that's all. Bye."

I would avoid this firm. Major red flag.
