Phone Interview
1 on 1 Interview
Interview
GE Capital Treasury Intern position within the industrials division of treasury. Had two phone interviews asking general accounting questions and financial ratio questions and resume background questions and then brought in for an interview with the two managers. In person interviews were more fit and less technical than the phone interviews oddly enough.
Interview Questions
Was asked about my previous internships which were mainly administrative. They wanted to know how my previous internships had prepared me for this internship, what types of tasks I performed and if they were quantitative in nature. Was also asked why multinational corporations use currency hedges and what types of specific risks they hedge for. They also asked me if I know the difference between marked-to-market and book-value accounting. For some reason those two questions and for the most part all the technical questions happened on the phone, where the in person interview was more behavioral and fit.

Interview
Applied through school's career site and then met the manager during the career fair. Was invited for a 1 on 1 interview on campus, and then 2 weeks later to super day to interview with 4 people. Took about 2-3 weeks after to get the offer. The interview was all behavioral with very minimal Excel questions, just wanted to see if you are a fit for the group.
Interview Questions
Most questions can be found online by searching behavioral questions. It is really simple just google behavioral questions. All you need is a scenario for each situation. For example, give me an example of when you received negative criticism and disagreed with it, and what was your solution to it. Give me an example when you disagreed with a manager and what did you do about it. An example of when you led people and how did you go about it. An example of when you had to make an unpopular decision.

Phone Interview
Interview
G.E. Capital outsources their recruitment. They should reconsider. I was called randomly one day by a mid-level manager at the company and he apologized for being "late for the phone interview". The recruiter had never asked for my availability, much less communicated a time to me. The interview lasted about half an hour. About three weeks later, I got a call rom the same mid-level manager offering me the job. Honestly, my recommendation is to proactively seek out the recruiter, but don't take silence as an indication you're not being considered. I was offered the job without ever having direct contact with the recruiter.
Interview Questions
The interview focused on how the markets respond to risk and how news developments can influence market ups and downs. We focused on how company earnings in the oil industry can drive capital requirements and the relationship between the price of oil and the likelihood of underperformance in auxiliary services, such as fracking sand providers and steel manufacturers. Then he asked about my past research into hydrocarbon developments in different areas of the world. Lastly, he asked about the role of a slowing Chinese economy on developing markets in the Americas and wanted me to work through the flow of cash from Chinese exports to American firms and the effect those had on Latin American exporters. There were also a lot of behavioral questions.
