Applied online using our schools career services website. Was invited to do a first round interview with the CFO of a plant, then was invited to a two part interview with the same CFO of the plant, and a CFO of one of the main product lines.
Interview Questions
1) Why are you interested in Corporate Finance instead of Investment Banking?
2) What are several ways to value a company?
3) Why are you interested in General Mills Finance Leadership Development Program?

These weren't necessarily particularly difficult, however, they were looking for pretty specific answers for each response. The remainder of the questions were standard technical and behavioral questions that you would likely expect from a Fortune 500 firm for a finance related position, particularly a rotational development program.

Interview
Classic on campus recruiting, initial phone screen, then 2 rounds of in person interviews. Nothing special or difficult to prepare for. Almost entirely behavioral; these basic questions (tell me about a time when....) are interview 101. The STAR method is what they use to evaluate.
Interview Questions
Occasionally they will ask a more technical question regarding GMI business strategy or corp fin.
For example, I was asked (a) If you were GMI what is a product you would launch? Then once you make something up they follow up with - OK you launched this product and sales did X this year but profits are down what might be the issue?
Another non-behavioral question might be about GMI long term strategy...where should we go? What markets, products, etc would you invest in?

Standard Pre-night dinner. Then the first round interview was 45 minutes of behavioral questions. Have basic finance knowledge, such as how Wall Street values a company. The second round interview was the next day and consisted of the same sort of questions.
Interview Questions
How does Wall Street value a company?

Talk about cash flows, discounting for time value of money. Follow up question may center around the experience of an individual investor.
If you were in charge of the company you interned for, how would you increase growth?

I had an answer that was very specific to my experiences in the insurance industry.

First there is an on campus interview followed by a super day in Minneapolis a few weeks later. The firm provides opportunities on campus to reach out in advance of the interview as well. Cultural fit is very important. Most of the questions were fit related. An interest in living in Minneapolis also seemed important.
Interview Questions
Tell me about a time when you had to use your analytic ability to sort through large sets of data.

What does General Mills do better than any of its competitors? Branding is an obvious answer, but it seemed like they liked hearing something different.
