The number you see in the middle of the doughnut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.

The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few interview insights). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
Hiring process conducted by Bright Network originally, however now Freshminds conduct them. Very different process to the other banks, which got me more interested in the firm. There was a company dinner, a presentation by Tim Shacklock and then finally the assessment centre.
Interview Questions
The interviewer built up to LBO, starting from multiples and then asked: How would you conduct an LBO for a private company? A lot of follow up questions to this as well.

1 on 1 Interview
Interview
Initial first round competency based interview followed by full assessment centre; this included a case study, followed by 3 other interviews. Less technical in focus than other boutiques, and did not drill on company valuation, or recent deals. Very strong on motivation for M&A and reasons for choosing the particular boutique.
Interview Questions
What differentiates Gleacher from other boutiques
Personal questions about background and motivation to do finance
Why not HF, PE or VC?
Long business case about whether or not to sell an asset- careful time management required here, and preparation about how to structure one as you need to present it back at the end.

Phone Interview
1 on 1 Interview
Interview
2 phone interviews and a super day with 5-6 interviews. The phone interviews were mainly behavioral but a couple of technical questions. At superday questions were almost purely behavioral and asked about prior work experience. Mainly all MDs interviewed but 1 interview was 2 on 1 with an analyst and associate. Pitched that analysts were given a lot of responsibility.
Interview Questions
No questions were hard- talking about work experience in detail was hardest. I just went over what I did and was asked about specific financial numbers for one company I did analysis on

Group Interview
Interview
I applied through on campus recruiting, and was selected as an alternate. I was informed the day before they came on campus that I did in fact get a first round interview. The interview was a 2 on 1 with an analyst and an associate. The associate was very friendly, and the analyst seemed a bit tired and not as focused. Interview went decently well, but didn't get a callback for final rounds.
Interview Questions
Q: What's typically higher, cost of equity or cost of debt?

A: I hadn't taken an accounting/corp finance class, so I didn't know. Tried to reason it out but didn't get that far.
Q: Why boutique/Why Gleacher?

A: Generic answer; more deal exposure as an analyst, stronger culture, etc.

Phone Interview
Interview
Applied online and received an email from an analyst requesting an interview fairly quickly. We set a time for the interview, but we ended up starting the interview around 20 minutes late. When I got the call, only one of the interviewers was on the line, and I did not get to speak to the second interviewer because of a scheduling conflict.
Interview Questions
What's an industry that you cover closely, and in what direction do you feel it is heading? Why do you feel that way?
What are the different ways to value a company? Which valuation method results in the highest/lowest value?

Phone Interview
Interview
First round phone screen. General behavior questions and typical banking questions. Nothing out of the ordinary. 3 days later, received a second round phone screen. Same thing. First one was an analyst and the second one was an associate. When asked about Gleacher's trajectory as whole and its recent external acquisition, both were indifferent to it and did not show much emotion. Seemed like morale is pretty bland at the firm right now. Both mentioned that deal flow has declined significantly in the past few years and that they have mostly been pitching and throwing ideas on the wall and hoping that they will stick. Interview flowed smoothly but did not get invitation to superday.
Interview Questions
What was the last book you read for fun that is not related to your school work?

I just said Malcolm Gladwell's book Outliers, which is actually pretty informative.
What was the most interesting book you read for fun that is not related to your school work (iteration of the previous question)?

Interview
On campus interview was one 30 minute interview with a first year and a partner. It was mostly fit questions, with a few very standard technical questions. Then I was invited to the Superday, which was 5 30 minute interviews, which were all with senior partners and were mostly fit, with some technical/current event/politics questions sprinkled in.
Interview Questions
If you were in Congress, how would you propose we deal with our fiscal crisis? Given two comparable healthcare companies who are both doing debt offerings, what things would you look at in determining which debt to buy?
