GSAM Summer Analyst

I was referred to the department by an alumni who worked there in January.

In february, I got a first round interview over the phone which was conducted by HR. The questions were very basic, and they basically asked me about my schooling: because I study philosophy, and am in the debate team (these things are on my resume), they asked me questions regarding this. They also asked me questions about GSAM- what I knew and why I wanted to apply.

I eventually got an offer for a superday, and traveled to New York in order to do this (February 20th). I spoke with two people, one in the Private Equity group of GSAM, one in the Alternative Investments groups. Both were pretty simple, and they asked me about things on my resume for the most part. Both of them asked me why Goldman and why GSAM, as well as why I wanted to do this role over other things. Both of them in the end also asked me if I had any questions for them.
