Investment Banking Summer Analyst

I submitted my resume online through Goldman's website in addition to my school's career services page. Heard back though e-mail letting me know I was selected for an Accelerated Superday Interview. I signed up for an interview time slot, made travel arrangements through Goldman's Travel Assistance, and received a corporate credit card for food/taxi expenses incurred on the day of my interview.

I was told that the first round of interviews on the Superday were to take place in the morning, and that if selected, second round interviews took place the same day in the afternoon.

The first interview was with 2 Associates in Consumer Retail. To be honest, they seemed rather disgruntled at the fact that they had to interview, which may or may not have affected how they perceived. I got asked NO accounting/finance questions; they mainly asked me questions assessing whether or not I was a good fit for Goldman. One of the interviews grilled me for about 10 minutes on one of my extracurricular activities, and commented that my answers sounded too "Vault Guidey."

Advice for interviewees at GS Summer Analyst IBD: focus less on the technical questions when preparing and more on why you are a good fit for Goldman.
