Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I met a GS private wealth manager on campus as a junior in college during my fall semester. I alerted her I was going to be studying abroad and was very interested in opportunities in PWM with GS. Fortunately she gave me her contact information and about two weeks after I reached out to her I was invited to have a phone interview. The phone interview was lengthier than I anticipated and seemed more like an actual interview and less like a screen. I was later invited to diversity event and about a month later a NY recruiter reached out to me to set up another phone interview. After my second phone interview I had not heard anything more, so I assumed I was not given the offer. Turns out, after three weeks into my study abroad program (end of January), I was invited to the Super Day. When I reached out to the recruiter and explained I was abroad, I was told I could no longer continue in the process. Fast forwarding to my senior year - I reached out to the private wealth manager who I had spoken to before leaving abroad and she encouraged me to apply again. I went through the process of applying and met with her at a campus event and fortunately I was invited to the super day again for the full time position. This time around I completed the interview and expressed I had outstanding offers elsewhere. GS told me they would be in contact with me by my deadline and when they finally called me they said the firm was not ready to make a decision at this time, however I was still being considered. That said, two months after my super day I have been in contact with the firm and I have been told they are waiting for "approval for additional headcount". Needless to say the process has been very strange.
