Interview Details

What did the interview consist of?
Phone Interview
1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Phone interview with two junior people after I applied through my college career center. I think one was an analyst and the other was an associate. Asked me:
-Walk me through your resume
-Why Finance?
-Why PWM?
-Why GS?
-Tell me whats going on in the market right now?
-Pitch me a stock

Aside from that it was really a friendly conversation and they asked more some questions about what I like to do for fun, free time, etc.

I then received an email a few days later for an in person interview Super Day in Philly.

I interviewed with 9 people. I sat in a conference room and people rotated in throughout the day.

Mostly fit, behavioral and market/finance related questions. I didn't receive any brain teasers or anything DCF related (again its PWM).

-What did the SP500 close at?
-What is the price of a barrel of oil? Price of gold?
-What caused the financial crisis?
-Walk me through your resume
-Your weakness
-Why PWM?
-Why do you want to work for GS?
-Why PWM and not trading or investment banking?
-Why do you want to work in the Philadelphia office? Why not NYC? What long term reasons would make you want to be in this area?
-How would you find new clients for us?

The one guy was a jerk, I mean he was just trying to rattle me. Actually an alumni of my school who I met before. He acted like we had never met, didn't look at me once during the interview, was texting, watching cnbc with his feet up on the desk and was asking me rapid fire questions.

-What was your SAT score?
-Is your SAT score or your GPA more indicative of your raw intelligence?
-Are you a neat freak? How neat are you? 1-4, how OCD are you?

I never heard back. I sent follow up emails and finally about after 5-6 weeks, they finally said I did not receive any offer and it was against company policy to give me any feedback why.

I thought it was pretty unprofessional that they never intended to let me know that I was rejected, I had to repeatedly check in.
