Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I applied online through my school's website. Went to a non-core school that GS does not typically target. Think I was given a spot because I contacted several alumni, had researched the firm a position for weeks, and got a bit lucky in the interview. I also had an offer from a competing bank, which I think increased my odds of receiving and offer + also accelerated their timeframe.
The process started with a phone interview. Then I received an offer from a competing bank (w/an exploding deadline) and was subsequently flown to NY, where I had 4 interviews, 30 minutes each. The interview started with the BUM of the IBD group I was targeting, then was followed by 3 interviews with others in this group.
