Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The initial process starts with coffee chats with the schools recruiting captains at the company, say 2 coffee chats. Based on your performance on the first two coffee chats (which are generaly to get a sense of your background, your interests in GS, what groups you are thinking of, why the group & why Gs, and your general vibes), you are then passed on to either an alum in your industry group of interest or if there are no alums the person handling recruiting in that group. You then have coffee chats with multiple people within that group and this is group and person specific as it can range from being high touch and technical to low touch and more informational and to get a sense of your background. If the group likes you, chances are you will receive an invite to the first round interview. This is purely a technical screen, after brief introductions, the interviewer will ask technical questions ranging from accounting questions ($10 depreciation question, impact on 3 statements if a company earns deferred revenue) to valuation questions (in what ways will changes in tax affect WACC, calculating EV and market cap based on information given on the income statement) to merger math ( I think just one question here). In the super day it was 3 30 minute interviews back to back, the first was similar to the first round interview, maybe less difficult, the second was brain teasers, random math questions and a question of probability and rolling dice, the third is more behavioural and to get a sense of you, where you rank GS in your recruiting process and why GS, so this is the opportunity to close the interview and close the deal to secure the offer.
