1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I go to a non-target school and was able to get into the recruiting process by networking with five or six analysts at the firm. I received an invitation for the non-target superday without a first round phone interview, likely because I stayed in front of all of my contacts, including the lead recruiter, throughout the summer. Superday consisted of one thirty minute technical round in the morning, followed by two behavioral rounds in the afternoon. The technical round was with an analyst and went fairly in-depth into concepts like depreciation and accretion/dilution. My interviewer was very cheerful and it felt much more conversational than I was initially expecting. None of the questions I was asked were too crazy (no brainteasers), but definitely harder than anything I was asked in a BB interview.

The behavioral rounds both one-on-one with two different senior bankers. The first one was very relaxed and seemed genuinely curious about my resume. He asked me a couple easy questions about my experience and I made sure to tie everything back to my reasons for wanting to work at Guggenheim. The second interviewer was much more intense, and seemed like a no-nonsense individual. He asked me rapid-fire questions, jumping from why I want to do IB to what companies I think should merge. All of my questions were met with multiple follow-up questions, but that's how conversations tend to be. Overall I actually really enjoyed talking to him, and by the end we were discussing my hobbies and it turned out we are both fans of The Witcher 3.

Ended up receiving the offer over the phone the same day. Key takeaways: study the guides closely, research the firm, and be willing to talk about your passions/hobbies!
