Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Round 1 – HR Screening
Initial call with HR focused on basic fit and logistics. We walked through my resume, deal experience, why HW, why Richmond, and which coverage group I was targeting. Very standard.

Round 2 – Zoom Interview (Director)
Mix of technical and light case questions. Technicals included:

“How does $100 of capex flow through the three statements?”

“Walk me through a DCF.”

“What are the main valuation methodologies and how do you use them?”

Then a short market/case prompt: I was given a hypothetical Pen Company and asked how I’d think about the business, potential buyers, and positioning.

Round 3 – Superday (Richmond Office)
Four interviews total:

Lunch with two associates – conversational, cultural fit, deal discussions.

Case study: Given a teaser and asked what questions I’d need to build out a full CIM.

Valuation case: Comparable comps, precedent comps, DCF, and LBO. Had to explain which comps made sense, which didn’t, and key drivers impacting valuation.

Final MD interview: Mostly behavioral — why HW, why Richmond, detailed walkthrough of my deals, and my responsibilities on each.
