Investment Banking Analyst

Applied online to multiple off-cycle/lateral positions. HR requested an initial phone screening about 3 weeks later. First phone screen was with an HR rep and went over basics (why us, banking, experience, etc.). 3 days after the first phone screen, I had a 1.5 hr phone interview with an associate in the group that I would be interviewing for. This was the most technical portion of the interview process. I was alerted later that evening that I had been selected to attend their superday.

The superday was very straightforward. There was a 45 minute case study, followed by a series of interviews. The deal team follows an HR interview template (to the T). Interviews consisted of several 2 on 1's. Overall, the entire process was very, very fit based. The interview seemed "easy," but you really would have to sell yourself and fit in the the team to win an offer. I feel that experience and technical prowess is far less important.

Overall, very nice guys. Many of them complimented me on my interview and experience, but I apparently wasn't what they were looking for. HR followed up about a week later and let me know that they had extended an offer to another candidate.
