I applied through the H.I.G. website but also emailed a Vice President at H.I.G. who went to my school. They reviewed my resume then emailed me to set up a preliminary 30 minute phone interview with a Partner. The phone interview went well originally as they asked me to walk them through my resume; however, they then asked me to imagine a company in an industry in which I would currently invest.

They then had me list out the investment highlights and industry growth opportunities as well as the risks and methods of due diligence in which I would mitigate those risks that I would use. This was my first phone interview in a long time and as soon as I began going down a "wrong" road in terms of how much leverage I could put on the business the Partner started drilling me and the tone was overall extremely negative. Also, I could tell there were people listening in in the background on his end. Overall, the technical questions were tough but fair, but the Partner's attitude was awful. Didn't get the offer and frankly happy I didn't.
