Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Received a referral from a friend working for the firm, and was contacted by the general company recruiter. They set me up to interview with someone at the office in Atlanta for HIG Growth.
The interview followed the path of most PE interviews, initially asking about my background and walk me through my resume. From there the interviewer asked very probing questions about the deals I had listed on my resume. They asked about the sell-side process, multiples paid on different deals as well as transaction rationale. From there he asked about the industry as a whole, and the investment merits of that industry. What types of multiples businesses typically went for, as well as if I thought the industry would improve or decline in the next few years.
From there he said that he had another call and cut the interview short. From what I understand these initial phone screens typically last 45 minutes to over an hour, and this was only 25 minutes.
