Associate

I applied via GoBuyside.com. They got in touch with me and asked me to take the WSAT PE version online, a timed multiple choice test that grills you on LBO math and concepts, logic, general math, M&A accounting, accounting, etc. After receiving a decent score, the recruiter scheduled a first-round phone interview with an associate. After the first round phone interview, I was invited to a super day in their Miami office. The interview consisted of a 2-hour on-site modeling test from 8AM-10AM. Subsequently, I had three 1-on-1 interviews, mostly at the VP level. Then an associate takes you to lunch. After lunch the initial group of candidates of 13 was shrunk to 5. The remaining 5 candidates have 2 more interviews with more senior level people, i.e., MDs. All interviews consisted of both fit questions as well as case studies in both accounting as well as coming to a valuation given high level financials and details about the company and assessing whether or not it'd be a good LBO candidate. Math and paper for these were both involved with the opportunity to ask questions. The interview was on Friday, so I flew to Miami Thursday night. Offers were extended the following Monday, and those who were not extended offers were notified on Tuesday.
