Private Equity Associate (MM)
General Interview Information
Interview Details
The first stage of the process was a traditional LBO modeling test followed by a phone interview about a month later. The phone interview was mostly transaction experience-related with a few behavioral questions. This was followed by a qualitative take-home case study, basically an in-depth company profile, investment thesis, and supporting rationale. Then a round of interviews (5 x 45 minutes) with the H.I.G. junior/mid-level team which covered the gambit of technical, behavioral, and transaction-related questions. The final round was with an MD and was mostly focused on transaction-related questions with a few behavioral questions mixed in.
The hardest part of the process (from a industry coverage banker perspective) was thinking through questions on hypothetical transactions and how to structure them.
