First Year Investment Banking Analyst

I was brought in as a lateral first year analyst through a referral at the company. The process started with a 30 minute screening interview with an Associate in the group i was interviewing with. This interview was mostly fit with a couple basic technical questions (going from EV to Equity Value and what are three valuation techniques).

A week later I was brought in for four in person interviews. Two of these interviews were with Vice Presidents and two with Directors. The interviews with the VPs were somewhat technical, asking a walk through of a DCF, how would you think about valuing certain companies, why do we unlever Beta, link of D&A through the 3 statements, and what valuation technique yields highest value.

The interviews with the Directors were all behaviorial, asking me to walk through my resume, why I'm leaving my current firm, why I want to join HL, etc.

Perception on the culture and the Company was very high as it seemed to be a tight group and everyone seemed extremely respectful. Interviews were not meant to be intimidating of attempts to put people on the spot. All questions were relevant and fair.
