Full Time Investment Banking Assosciate

I reached out to one of my friends/fellow Booth alums that worked in the Industrials group in the Chicago office. He sent my resume around to the Industrials group, which generated significant interest given my extensive background in Corporate Development with an Industrials firm. I had 4 phone "informational interviews" followed by 4 hours of in office interviews. The in office interviews varied between 1 - 3 people for 30 minutes per session. Some sessions were personality focused, some sessions were technical skills. The firm opted to interview me before the on-campus recruiting process, but did not let me know the status of my process. I still went to the company presentation at the on-campus presentation, to which they were delighted/surprised since I already interviewed with them. The team captain spoke with me extensively at the event, explaining the firm was very pleased to have interviewed me and was pleased I came to the event but they decided they were not going to extend offers before the on-campus recruiting process.
