Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I was referred for a lateral hire interview from a former colleague (employee by the same turnaround firm). There were no phone interviews - just one in-house "superday" which consisted of four, 1v1 interviews (i. analyst, fit and technical; ii. director, fit and soft-ball technical; iii. director, fit and resume discussion; iv. director, fit and resume discussion) and a modeling exam. The technical questions are what you would expect from an rx interview at a top shop (basic dcf, lbo, credit questions, structural sub.) and the excel exam involved building a rx transaction from scratch provided a few basic assumptions. While the modeling portion was the most difficult part, it was not testing one's assumptions re: a transaction, but rather excel aptitude and conceptual understanding of a debt exchange.
