Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Spoke to a VP and Associate over the phone (separately). They were looking for an off-cycle hire. First, the Associate. He asked me maybe 3 questions about my background (work, school, why intrepid/IB). No technical/fit questions, phone call was maybe 10 minutes (including my questions). Then spoke w/ the VP (more like a 20 min convo). He was very blunt. Asked more details on background info, why IB, why Intrepid, what deal are you interested in that closed recently? Again, no technical questions…which is weird for an IB - probably the only interview w/ investment professionals I've had where I haven't been asked at least one. Long story short - my guess is they were looking for a candidate w/ a different background b/c they did not ask me one technical question and their "fit" questions were more tailored towards my background than they were behavioral.
