Interview

Had been networking with people from Intrepid for a few months. When they released their applications they scheduled me for an interview. Started with a 1-on-1 which was mostly behavioral with one technical. A week later I had my super day which lasted 4 hours. Overall, not bad but had one VP com in 15 minutes late and then spent another 10 minutes on a call in the middle of the interview.

First round was a 30 minute interview
Second round was a Super day with 8 30 minute back to back interviews

Mostly behavioral and fit, but definitely know your technicals. If you don't practice your technicals and know the fundamentals you will not do well.

Interviewers were really great to speak with and make you excited about the firm.

Interview

Only got a first round, but had a 1 hour call with 2 analysts. 1 was an alumni, while the other was not. Interview consisted of standard non-technical questions (why ib, walk me through your resume) actually got very technical very quickly. The culture seemed okay - the analyst from my school was not the most chill honestly. Classical technical questions, but I even got some M&A basic questions (sell-side process) that I was not ready for. I imagine later rounds would require firm specific knowledge (why Interpid). Also, was asked about relocation / connections to the West Coast, because I am from the East.

Interview Questions

Touched on it briefly before, but:
- Walk me through the Sell-Side M&A process
- With what information do you re-lever beta when building a DCF

Interview

Interview process consisted of a phone screen, followed by a 1-1 or 2-1 video interview. This step is followed by a final round super day, done via video but traditionally done in office. Both the phone screen and first video interview were conducted by analysts associates and consisted of typical behavioral and valuation based technical questions. The super day followed a traditional Saturday structure of short interviews with many members of the team of varied seniority, bouncing being behaviorals and technicals.

Interview Questions

Most of the questions asked were to be expected technical valuation questions - what are the types of valuation techniques, walk me through all three of the valuation techniques, how does a change of +/-X amount on Income Statement Item Y impact all three financial statements? Be prepared to be cutoff mid explanation to further go into detail on something you are explaining - for example, you may be asked to dive deeper into what Beta is while walking through a DCF.
